Our Fab 5

February 23, 2007 was the first chance the Giants position players had to watch Tim Lincecum pitch. Everyone, including Barry Bonds (at the batting cage in front of Kevin Frandsen) took advantage of the opportunity to check out the future of Giants baseball.
It’s finally here! The first day of Spring Training has arrived with all of our pitchers and catchers (position players will report by next Thursday) and we thought it would be fun to find our favorite photos of our Fab 5 Starters. With such an outstanding group of pitchers it was hard to choose, but in the end we came up with a 5 photos that we love and have a great story behind them.

This photo was used in the inside of Giants Magazine last year. Being a country boy at heart he was very comfortable interacting with the horse (named Tiempo) who is older than he is.

A little over 2 months after receiving an invitation to the Giants Spring Training, Ryan Vogelsong received a standing ovation after pitching 5 perfect innings in his first start at AT&T Park.

In 2005 Barry Zito founded the non-profit organization, Strike Out For Troops. Since then nearly 2 million dollars has been raised to help our wounded veterans. Barry is able to honor a few of them each year at AT&T Park with events like the Operation Care and Comfort Care Package Drive for Troops.

Prior to game 3 of the 2010 NLCS no one knew how well Matt Cain would perform. When the post season was over he would have a perfect October ERA of 0.00 (while pitching 21 1/3 innings) and a World Series Ring.
