Together We’re Giant- Grounds Crew
The grounds crew build the mound for the visiting team’s bullpen.
Since the last Giants game of 2011 the field at AT&T Park has been used to host Cal football, the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl, soccer and a variety of private events. Now that baseball is on its way back, the grounds crew is busy restoring the baseball diamond.
On March 19, the grounds crew was in the beginning stages of creating the diamond.
Home plate is placed in tightly packed dirt in the batter's box.
The outfield grass is constantly being mowed to keep it in impeccable condition.
Landscaping supplies, home plates and a base in the grounds crew's storage.
This was not only really interesting to me but also super nice of you to post. The grounds crew probably doesn’t get nearly the acknowledgment they deserve for their hard work. AT&T is a gorgeous ballpark. I can only imagine the hours that go into maintaining it. Hope I can see it some day.
