ALL ABOUT CAIN...In his last 2 starts, RHP Matt Cain has tossed 18.0-shutout innings, while allowing just 3 singles and 1 BB...the following are notes about Cain’s last 2 outings, courtesy of Trent McCotter of SABR: The last pitcher to throw a 9-inning one-hitter followed by a 9-inning 2-hitter was Bobby Witt on June 23 and 28, 1994... The last NL pitcher to do it: Claude Osteen on June 17 and 21, 1965... The last pitcher to allow so few baserunners (4) over two 9-inning starts was Woodie Fryman for Pittsburgh from June 26-July 1, 1966 (4 in two 9-inning starts).

SANDOVAL STREAKING...IF Pablo Sandoval has hit safely in all 12 games this season, batting .333 (16-for-48) with 2 HRs and 9 RBI...his hit streak is the longest active streak in the NL and 2nd-longest in the Majors (Minnesota’s Josh Willingham has a current 13-game hit streak).

WILSON UPDATE...RHP Brian Wilson underwent successful reconstructive surgery, commonly known as Tommy John surgery, to repair his right throwing elbow yesterday in Florida...Dr. James Andrews performed the procedure with Giants team orthopedist, Dr. Ken Akizuiki assisting.

GOING DEEP INTO THE GAME...Barry Zito as tossed 7.0+ innings in each of his 1st 2 starts this season, marking the 1st time since July 31 and Aug. 6, 2010 that he’s gone 7+ innings in consecutive starting assignments.

SERGIO ROMO...Has thrown 3.1-scoreless innings over 4 relief outings.
