Quick Hits for Saturday, June 9, 2012 (Game 60)
TODAY’S GAME…The San Francisco Giants host the Texas Rangers in the middle game of this 3-game series…Giants’ right-hander Ryan Vogelsong (4-2, 2.38) will face Rangers’ right-hander Scott Feldman (0-4, 7.01).

NOTHING LIKE HOME… RHP Ryan Vogelsong enters today’s game with the 8th-lowest home ERA in the NL, fashioning a 1.52 figure (7er, 41.1ip) in 6 starts…according to Elias, over the last 20 years, there was only one other instance of a Giants pitcher recording an ERA that low over his 1st 6 starts, and that was by Vogelsong himself in 2011 (1.09)…prior to that, no Giants pitcher had done so since Scott Garrelts at Candlestick in 1989 (0.86).
Check out today’s complete game notes, which contain more stats than days in the weekend.

WHO’S THE NEW GUY?… George Kontos was acquired by the Giants from the New York Yankees earlier this season on April 4 in exchange for C Chris Stewart…he made his Major League debut with the Yankees last season, making 7 relief appearances and allowing 2 runs in 6.0 innings…in 23 relief appearances for triple-A Fresno this season, the 6-foot-3, 225-pound right-hander went 2-0 with a 1.71 ERA (6er, 31.2ip)…he turns 27 on Tuesday.

IT WAS A GOOD RUN…OF Angel Pagan’s 28-game home hitting streak ended last night after going 0-for-4…the streak was the longest in Giants franchise history (since 1900)… Has had 3-separate hit streaks of 11-or-more games this season (11 game, 15 game and a 20 game)… the last Giants player with 3-or-more double-digit hit streaks in a single campaign was Randy Winn in 2007… has hit safely in 28 of his 30 home games this season.

NATE SCHIERHOLTZ… Has started just 6 of SF’s last 36 contests… is hitting .291 (23-for-79) vs. righties.
