A Look Back – 2002 – People and Pets
In honor of the 2002 Team Reunion coming up on July 1 we wanted to look back at some of the great moments during the 2002 season. In August the SPCA brought some of their cats and dogs to the ballpark to do a photo shoot for the 2003 Giants/SF SPCA People and Pets Calendar. Everyone took part in a crazy day of shooting that went from 9:45 to 5:45 and consisted of:
- 28 pets running around the ballpark
- 31 great photos which were used in the calendar
- 40 players/coaches/Giants & SF SPCA employees getting the pets ready
- More dog and cat kisses than we could count

Quick Hits for Friday, June 15, 2012 (Game 65)
TONIGHT’S GAME…The San Francisco Giants visit the Seattle Mariners in the 1st game of this 3-game series…Giants’ right-hander Ryan Vogelsong (5-2, 2.26) will face Mariners’ left-hander Jason Vargas (7-5, 3.90).

VOGELTRON…RHP Ryan Vogelsong enters tonight’s game with the 4th-lowest ERA in the NL with a 2.26 figure… the right-hander currently has a 5-game winning streak and is 1 away from matching his previous career-high of 6 (June 5-Aug. 11, 2011)…he is posting a 1.68 ERA (9er, 48.1ip) in that stretch…hasn’t lost since May 3 vs. Miami.

JOAQUIN ARIAS… Has hit safely in a career-high 8 games, matching his previous high set April 19-27, 2010 w/TEX).

JOAQUIN ARIAS… batted .399 (3 for 9) on the last homestand… is batting .239 for the season with 1 HR and 12 RBIs.

BRANDON BELT… Went 1-for-4 with a 2-run homer…marked the 2nd time in his career he has hit 3 home runs in 3-consecutive games played (last: Sept. 15, 16 & 18 at COL).

BRANDON BELT… Is batting .275 (19-for-69) at home, compared to .193 (11-for-57) on the road… His 24 walks rank as the 2nd-most on the team (Blanco, 25).

THIS DATE IN GIANTS HISTORY… June 15, 1963 – Juan Marichal pitched the first Giant no-hitter in 34 years, a 1-0 vic- tory over Houston before a crowd of 18,869 at Candlestick…the no-hitter was the 1st for the Giants since Carl Hubbell smothered the Pirates 11-0 on May 8, 1929.
