Vamos Gigantes!
The Giants celebrated their Hispanic heritage today with Fiesta Gigantes, a pregame party that took place in O’Doul Plaza. There was live music and Orlando Cepeda dropped by with Spanish broadcasters Erwin Higueros and Tito Fuentes. During a pregame ceremony, Javier Lopez was presented with the Jose Uribe Sportsmanship Award from the Hispanic Heritage Baseball Museum and Hall of Fame. The team also played today’s game, a 2-3 loss to the LA Dodgers, in Gigantes jerseys.

TODAY’S GAME…The San Francisco Giants host the Los Angeles Dodgers in the middle game of this 3-game series…Giants’ right-hander Matt Cain (13-5, 2.98) will face Dodgers’ left-hander Chris Capuano (11-10, 3.63).

INSIDE THE SERIES…The Giants and Dodgers will face off for the 14th time this season and the 5th of 6 series in 2012…3 of the 4 series between these two teams have resulted in 3-game sweeps, including the last series as the Giants broomed the Dodgers in LA Aug. 20-22, marking the 1st sweep of LA at Dodger Stadium since 2007.

MR. CLUTCH…Since being acquired by the Giants from the Rockies on July 27, IF Marco Scutaro has batted .348 (16-for-46) with runners in scoring position…his 26 RBI since joining the club are tied with OF Hunter Pence for the most on the team during that span.

CAUGHT LOOKING…With the Postseason races heating up, the Giants will be featured in a new national TV series called Caught Looking, produced by MLB Productions and airing on NBC Sports Network…for this weekend’s series, crews from MLB Productions will be embedded with both teams, producing a 1-hour show debuting next Thurs. 9/6 at 9:00 p.m. ET on NBC Sports Network.

STAYING HOT…SF has posted a 32-20 (.615) record since the All-Star break, which ranks as the 4th-best winning pct. in the Majors…the Giants have gained 6.0 games in the win/loss column on the Dodgers during that stretch.
