TONIGHT’S GAME…The San Francisco Giants host the San Diego Padres in the 1st game of this 3-game series…Giants’ right-hander Ryan Vogelsong (12-9, 3.65) will face Padres’ right-hander Casey Kelly (2-1, 5.85).

San Francisco Giants catcher Buster Posey was selected winner of the 2012 Willie Mac Award, the club announced today. The award was established in 1980, in honor of former legend and Hall of Famer Willie McCovey. Posey will receive a plaque prior to tonight’s game. Engraved on the plaque are the words “Competitive Spirit, Ability and Leadership” to characterize the qualities both McCovey and Posey exemplify.

INCHING CLOSER…The Giants enter tonight’s contest with a season-high 10.0 game lead over the Dodgers in the NL West with just 12 games remaining.
