TONIGHT’S GAME…The San Francisco Giants host the Cincinnati Reds in the 1st game of this best-of-5 Division Series…Giants’ right-hander Matt Cain (16-5, 2.79) will face Reds’ right-hander Johnny Cueto (19-9, 2.78).
POSTSEASON HISTORY…The Giants franchise owns 6 World Championships (1905, 1921, 1922, 1933, 1954, 2010), 21 Pennants and this is the 24 playoff appearance in the teams history…overall, the Giants have gone 73-77-2 (win-loss-tied) in the postseason since 1900 (8-12 in League Division Series, 16-11 in League Championship Series and 49-54-2 in World Series).

MARCO SCUTARO… Is on his 2nd career postseason roster having appeared with Oakland during 2006 playoffs… During ‘06 Division Series and LCS, combined to bat .185 (5-for-27) with 4 2Bs and 6 RBI.
AT THE HELM…Bruce Bochy, in his 6th season as the Giants skipper, has led San Francisco to its 2nd NL West crown during his tenure…this is the 4th time in the last 8 seasons that he’s guided his team to the playoffs.
MATT CAIN… Has not allowed an earned run in 21.1 postseason innings, the 6th-longest streak in ML history and the 2nd- longest in Giants franchise history, traling Christy Mathewson (28.0ip).
ANGEL PAGAN… Is on his 2nd career postseason roster, but will be seeking his 1st-ever postseason action as he never played an inning with the Cubs during their 2007 Division Series vs. Arizona.
BUSTER POSEY… Became the 1st rookie catcher in Major League history to bat cleanup in a postseason game… Hit safely in all 5 games of the World Series vs. Texas, going 6-for-20 (.300)… Is the youngest Giants catcher to hit a HR in a World Series game at 23 years and 219 days old.
