NLDS Game 3 – Quick Hits
TONIGHT’S GAME…The San Francisco Giants visit the Cincinnati Reds in the 3rd game of this best-of-5 Division Series…Giants’ right-hander Ryan Vogelsong (14-9, 3.37) will face Reds’ right-hander Homer Bailey (13-10, 3.68).

Ryan Vogelsong will be making his 1st career postseason appearance in 2012… His 14 victories, 31 starts and 158 strikeouts in 2012 were all career- highs.
Check out today’s complete game notes, which contain more stats than cold nights.

ROAD SERIES WINS…The Giants lost just one series on the road since the All-Star break, going 10-1-1 (win-lost-split) in their last 12 road sets…their only series loss came at the hand of the Dodgers in the very last series of the season (Oct. 1-3).

BUSTER POSEY… Became the 1st rookie catcher in Major League history to bat cleanup in a postseason game… Hit safely in all 5 games of the World Series vs. Texas, going 6-for-20… Is the youngest Giants catcher to hit a HR in a World Series game at 23 years and 219 days old.

NL WEST CHAMPS…The Giants won the 2012 NL West division for the 8th time since the advent of divisional play began in 1969 (1971, 1987, 1989, 1997, 2000, 2003, 2010, 2012)…it’s the 2nd time in the last 3 seasons that they’ve won the NL West.

IT’S BEEN DONE BEFORE…Just 7 teams have come back from a 0-2 deficit to win a best-of-5 series in the postseason. The 2001 NYY are the only team to win after dropping the 1st 2 games at home.

GREGOR BLANCO… Stole a career-best 26 bases (26-for-32), the 2nd-most on the team… His 6 bunt hits ranked as the 9th-most in the NL. HECTOR SANCHEZ… 22-year-old rookie spent his 1st full season in the big leagues this year… Started 49 games (48 at catcher and 1 as DH)…85.4% of his starts came with either Lincecum or Zito starting (started 25 of Zito’s 32 starts and 16 of Lincecum’s 33)… Also caught Bumgarner 5 times, Cain and Hacker once (never caught Vogelsong).
