Ryan Vogelsong

As we count down to Opening Day we would like to highlight some of the players and coaches we will be cheering on during the 2013 season.  Be sure to check out our 2013 Media Guide for more tidbits about our players and coaches.

2012 POSTSEASON HIGHLIGHTS

  • On his first career postseason roster, Vogelsong went 3-0 with a 1.09 ERA (3er, 24.2ip) in four starts.
  • Became the second Giants pitcher in the last 100 years to have three straight starts of allowing one earned run or fewer in a single postseason…the only other Giant to accomplish this feat over that span was Matt Cain in 2010.
  • Started Game 6 of the LCS vs. St. Louis and struck out a career-high nine batters through 7.0 innings of work in the Giants’ 6-1 victory, forcing a decisive Game 7.

GIANTS GEMS

  • Graduated in 1995 from Octorara Area High school (1000 students) in Atglen, PA, where he played baseball, basketball and soccer.
  • He’s just the second player from Pennsylvania’s Kutztown University to reach the Majors. The other was Harry Hoch, who pitched for the Philadelphia Phillies and St. Louis Browns from 1908 to 1915.
  • Vogelsong has been a part owner of Marucci Bat Company since 2004. It’s based in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. He says when baseball is over, he’ll likely go to work full time for the company.
