ABOUT LAST NIGHT…Last night marked the fifth time the Mets and Giants have played a 15.0+ inning game…the Giants had won the previous four, with the last one coming on Aug. 19, 1968 (ESPN Stats & Info)…last night was the longest game by inning the Giants had played since an 18.0 inning contest against the D-backs here at AT&T Park on May 29, 2001 (a 1-0 Giants loss).

TODAY’S ROSTER MOVES…Prior to tonight’s game the Giants have placed C Hector Sanchez on the 15-day disabled list with a right shoulder strain and have recalled LHP Mike Kickham from triple-A Fresno…in addition, SF purchased the contract of IF Kensuke Tanaka (#37) from Fresno and OF Cole Gillespie has been designated for assignment.

GREGOR BLANCO… Played all 16.0 innings in center field last night and did not have one putout…Has appeared in 76 games, making 63 starts (35 in left field and 28 in center field)… Has gone 19-for-56 (.339) w/RISP and is 11-for-31 (.355) with RISP and two outs… Is hitting .336 (39-for-116) here at home compared to .223 (31-for-139) on the road.

ANOTHER TRANSACTION…SF has agreed to terms with OF Jeff Francoeur on a minor league contract…Francoeur will report to triple-A Fresno tonight…the 29-year-old was designated by the Royals after hitting .208 with three HRs and 13 RBI in 59 games.

THE STARS…C Buster Posey (second selection), IF Marco Scutaro (first) and LHP Madison Bumgarner (first) will all represent the Giants in this year’s All-Star Game in New York…it’s the third consecutive year that the Giants have at least three All-Stars.

RECORD GAME…C Buster Posey recorded a career-best five hits last night, going 5-for-8 with two singles, two doubles and a home run…the last Giants catcher with five-or-more hits in a game was Doug Mirabelli (five hits) at Houston on June 24, 2000 (Elias).
