GIANTS THIS MONTH… e Giants have gone 10-6 (.625) so far this month, which is tied with the Reds and Cardinals for the third-best winning pct…only the Nationals (.813, 13-3) and Padres (.667, 10-5) have been better this month among NL teams.

TONY ABREU… Was recalled from his rehab assignment at triple-A Fresno and was reinstated off the DL on 9/1… Missed 31 games with left knee bursitis.

MATT CAIN… Since the All-Star break has allowed three runs or fewer in each outing while logging at least 7.0 innings in six of nine starts.

A LATE DATE…According to Elias, this series is the latest the Giants have ever played a road series vs. the Mets…the previous latest series was Sept. 10-12, 1963 at the Polo Grounds (thanks also to Dan Peterson for this note).

JUST IN CASE… The Giants record for consecutive games with an RBI is 10, shared by Matt Williams and Jeff Kent…Williams did it from Aug. 27-Sept. 6, 1991 and Kent accomplished it from June 7-18, 2000.

WELCOME BACK…OF Angel Pagan went 3-for-3 with a home run and three RBI in the Giants’ win over the Mets last night…according to Elias, Pagan is the fourth former Mets player to go 3-for-3 or better with a homer and at least three RBI in a game against the Mets…the others to do it were Dave Kingman in 1979 (4-for-4, 3 HR, 3 RBI), Mike Jacobs in 2008 (3-for-3, HR, 3 RBI) and Ty Wigginton in 2012 (3-for-3, HR, 6 RBI).
