AUGUST WAS GOOD… After a 10-16 month of June and 12-14 July, the Giants posted a 16-12 (.571) record last month, the third-best in the NL behind Washington (19-10, .655) and San Diego (16-11, .593)…the Giants led the NL with a .288 batting average in August and averaged a league-high 4.86 runs per game…Giants pitchers finished the month with a 3.23 ERA (4th-best).

VOTE PANIK… IF Joe Panik led all National League rookies in batting average (.379), on-base pct. (.416) and hits (36) last month, while tying for fourth in RBI (11)…Panik’s 36 hits in August are the most by a Giants rookie in a single month since C Buster Posey had 43 in July of 2010.

LET’S KEEP THIS WIN STREAK GOING… SF hasn’t won seven or more consecutive games since an eight-game run from Sept. 11-18, 2011, and they can match that streak if they go undefeated today.
