ON THE MOUND… RHP Yusemiro Petit (5-4, 3.64 ERA) will make his 11th start/38th appearance of the year tonight in San Diego…has gone 3-3 with a 5.18 ERA (33er, 57.1ip) in his first 10 starts, with the Giants going 6-4 in those outings…suffered the loss in his previous outing, 4-2 SF defeat last Sunday vs. the Dodgers (7.0ip,8h,4r,3er,0bb,8so,1hr)…has lifetime 1-4 mark vs. the Padres with a 4.76 ERA in 11 outings/four starts…RHP Andrew Cashner (4-7, 2.20) will start for the Pads, having posted a career 1-3 record with a 3.97 ERA vs. the Giants over nine previous outings/three starts.

YUSMEIRO PETIT… His first six starts this season came in place of either Matt Cain (five times) or RHP Tim Hudson (once), both of whom have dealt with injuries.

IN CONTROL… Yusemiro Petit has faced 62-consecutive batters without going to a three-ball count, which dates back to an intentional walk to Corey Dickerson on Sept. 2. at COL…in fact, he is just the second pitcher to face 62+ consecutive batters without going to a three-ball count this season, joining Chad Qualls who went 71-straight batters from April 29-June 28…Petit is the first starting pitcher to do so since Cliff Lee went 66-straight batters from Sept. 16-27, 2013 (STATS, LLC).
