BUMGARNER’S BIG NIGHT… LHP Madison Bumgarner became the third pitcher to toss a shutout with at least 10 strikeouts in a winner-take-all postseason game, joining Sandy Koufax (Dodgers vs. Twins in 1965 WS) and Justin Verlander (Tigers vs. A’s in 2012 ALDS) (Elias).

LOPSIDED WIN… Bumgarner’s 8-0 victory represented the most lopsided complete-game shutout in a postseason game since Bret Saberhagen’s 11-0 shutout for the Royals over the Cardinals in Game Seven of the 1985 World Series (Elias).

JOE PANIK… On his first postseason roster…went 3-for-5 in his ! rst game on Wednesday at Pittsburgh…became the fourth Giants rookie to have three-or-more hits in a single postseason game, joining Freddie Lindstrom (1924), Buster Posey (2010) and Bill Terry (1924).

PABLO’S POSTSEASON HIT STREAK… IF Pablo Sandoval’s  rst inning single on Wednesday extended his postseason hitting streak to 11 games, the longest current postseason hit streak in the Majors…it also matches the longest postseason hitting streak in Giants history, accomplished by two other players: Marco Scutaro (2012) and Irish Meusel (1921-1922) (Elias).
