2 score and 10 years ago our team brought forth for this city, a winning tradition, conceived in teamwork, and dedicated to the proposition that all men are created Giants…
Last week we featured a special reunion of the 1962 team to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the first World Series in San Francisco with 13 members of the 1962 team participating in the ceremony. As Mike Krukow said, “They set the tone for what it means to be a San Francisco Giant.”
After a stormy evening, San Franciscians experienced a perfect day at AT&T Park. Pregame festivities began with the introduction of the 2012 and 1962 Giants. The 41,138 fans were also treated to a fantastic flyover by the pilots of Lemoore Naval Air Station and a touching tribute to Giants fan Bryan Stow. Matt Cain kept the excitement going with a complete game shutout.
More than 5,000 fans came to AT&T Park to participate in the “Authentic Opening Day” free viewing party presented by the Giants and Comcast SportsNet. Everyone got to see Buster Posey continue his 14 game hitting streak, and a few new of the Giants in the new road uniforms.
