GIANTS POSTSEASON WIN STREAK… The Giants, who won the World Series in 2010 and 2012, have now won nine consecutive postseason games, the longest postseason win streak in franchise history and an all-time record for a National League team…the win streak is also tied for the  fth-longest in MLB postseason history…the Giants’ streak dates back to the  fth game of the 2012 NLCS.

TIM HUDSON… Hudson is on his seventh postseason roster, having last appeared in postseason contests in 2010 with Atlanta.

SERGIO ROMO… Is on his third postseason roster (2010, 2012)…is 2-0 w/2.35 ERA (4er, 15.1ip) while going 4-for-6 in SV chances in 17 postseason games…has tossed 7.1-scoreless ip in last eight ps games.

JEREMY AFFELDT… Has appeared in 22 postseason games, posting no record and a 1.37 ERA (3er, 19.2ip).

PANIK PLAYING IT COOL… Rookie IF Joe Panik has gone 5-for-10 with a triple and one RBI in his first two career postseason games…the only Giants player in franchise history to have more than five hits in his first two postseason games was Monte Irvin, who had seven from Oct. 4-5, 1951 (Stats, Inc.).

JAVIER LOPEZ… Has appeared in the postseason with the Red Sox (2007, 2008) and Giants (2010, 2012)…has three World Series rings (’07, ’10, ’12)…is 1-1 with a 3.95 ERA (6er, 13.2ip) in 23 games.

BRANDON CRAWFORD… He’s the second Giants player to hit a grand slam in a winner-take-all postseason game, joining Buster Posey (2012 NLDS @ CIN).

PABLO’S POSTSEASON HIT STREAK… IF Pablo Sandoval’s 4th inning single yesterday extended his postseason hitting streak to 12 games, the longest current postseason hit streak in the Majors and the longest in Giants franchise postseason history, surpassing 11-game hit streaks by Marco Scutaro (2012) and Irish Meusel (1921-1922) (Elias).

GIANTS IN ELIMINATION GAMES – KEEP THE WIN STREAK GOING… The Giants are 17-17 all-time in elimination postseason games…SF has won each of their last six elimination games, all of which came in 2012…the Giants became just the second team to win six straight elimination games in a single postseason in 2012, joining the 1985 Royals.

PAST POSTSEASON HISTORY BETWEEN GIANTS-PIRATES… SF and PIT are meeting in the postseason for just the second time…they also met in the 1971 NLCS, with the Pirates winning the best-of-seven series, 3-games-to-1.

JOE PANIK… Went 31-for-83 (.373) versus left-handed pitchers…since the team moved to San Francisco in 1958, only two Giants rookie left-handed batters hit at least .300 against southpaws in at least 50 at-bats: Willie McCovey in 1959 (.340) and Will Clark in 1986 (.308) (Elias).
