TODAY’S GAME…The Giants host the Nationals in the final contest of this three game series…this series is the start of a six-game, seven day homestand that also features the Rockies (May 24-26)…LHP Gio Gonzalez (3-2, 4.01) is scheduled to face LHP Madison Bumgarner (4-2, 3.09) in today’s finale.

AT THE TURNSTILES…The Giants have sold out their last 189 regular season home games, dating back to Oct. 1, 2010…it’s the longest active regular season home sellout streak in the Majors.

SCUTARO’S STREAK REACHES 18…IF Marco Scutaro enters today’s game with a season-high 19 game hitting streak, the longest active hit streak in the bigs and the longest hitting streak in the Majors this season…Scutaro is batting .481 (38-for-79) during the streak…his career-best hit streak is 20 games, accomplished last season.

WASHINGTON TIMES…The Giants have a long association with the team from Washington. In 1924 the Washington Senators beat the New York Giants in 7 games (the last game went to 12 innings)… Game 5 of the 1933 World Series was won by the Giants and was the last time Washington played World Series host.

CONGRATULATIONS RAGS…Tomorrow, Giants pitching coach Dave Righetti will be inducted into the Bay Area Sports Hall of Fame…Righetti played 16 seasons in the Majors, posting an 82-79 record with a 3.46 ERA and 1,112 strikeouts in 718 career games (89 starts)…joining Righetti in the induction ceremony will be Tim Brown (Oakland Raiders), Walter A. Haas Jr. (Oakland Athletics) and Brent Jones (San Francisco 49ers).
Pixar Night
Last night, the Giants had a couple of special guests in attendance, Sully and Mike Wazowski from Monsters University. They came to cheer on Pixar Chief Creative Officer John Lasseter while he threw the ceremonial first and pitch. They also posed with fans during a pregame party in Seal’s Plaza and attended a presentation by MC Franco Finn and animator Keslsey Mann.

TONIGHT’S GAME…The Giants kicked off a six-game, seven day homestand (Nationals, Rockies) yesterday with an 8-0 win against the Nationals…game two of this series will feature RHP Stephen Strasburg (2-5, 2.83) facing RHP Matt Cain (3-2, 5.43).

IT’S A SUCCESS…Ryan Vogelsong underwent successful surgery on his fractured right hand today at Stanford Hospital…the surgery was performed by Dr. Tim McAdams…Vogelsong is expected to miss the next four-six weeks.

TODAY’S ROSTER MOVES…The Giants have placed RHP Santiago Casilla and RHP Ryan Vogelsong on the 15-day disabled list today…IF Brett Pill (#6) and RHP Sandy Rosario (#43) have both been recalled from triple-A Fresno.

THE GIANTS…Snapped a three-game losing streak with last night’s win, but have still lost five of their last seven games and eight of their last 14…they enter tonight’s contest alone in second place in the NL West, 1.0 game behind first place Arizona.
