TODAY’S GAME…The San Francisco Giants host the Colorado Rockies today in the final game of this three game series…RHP Juan Nicasio (8-7, 4.68) is scheduled to face RHP Yusmeiro Petit (3-0, 2.05).
DRIVING THEM IN…OF Hunter Pence went 4-for-5 last night and matched his career-high with six RBI…Pence’s six runs driven in are the most by a Giant here at AT&T Park since Jose Guillen did so on Sept. 19, 2010 vs. Milwaukee.

20-20 FOR PENCE…Hunter Pence became the seventh Giant to hit 20 HRs and steal 20 bases in a season and the first since Barry Bonds in 1998 (the others: Bobby Bonds, Willie Mays, Jeffrey Leonard, Glenallen Hill and Orlando Cepeda)…Pence joined Colorado’s Carlos Gonzalez (26 HRs, 21 SBs) and Los Angeles’ Mike Trout (23 HRs, 32 SBs) as the only players in the Majors to go 20-20 this season.
IT ALL COMES DOWN TO GAME 5…The San Jose Giants were unable to hold an early 5-1 lead at Visalia last night and fell 6-5 in Game 4…San Jose and Visalia are now tied at two-games-apiece in the best-of-five North Division Series…Game 5 is set for tonight in San Jose as RHP Pat Young will start for the Giants…Young was added to SJ’s roster from Salem-Keizer at the start of the playoffs, as he posted a 0.92 ERA in 8 starts with the Volcanoes.
ON THE MOUND…RHP Yusmeiro Petit came within one out and one strike from tossing the 24th perfect game in MLB history in his last start, as he lost his bid for a perfecto on Eric Chavez’s pinch-hit single with two outs in the 9th inning…Petit became the 12th player to lose a perfect game with two outs in the 9th and the second pitcher this season, joining Texas’ Yu Darvish.
MATT CAIN… Tomorrow the three-time NL All-Star will be making his 28th start of the season and just his second outing since coming off the DL with a right forearm contusion…took the loss in his last start on Saturday vs. Arizona in SF’s 2-1 defeat…he tossed 6.1 innings, allowing just two runs on eight hits and four walks with three Ks.
GOING FOR A WINNING HOMESTAND…The Giants need a win today to clinch their first winning homestand since May 20-26, when they went 4-2 against Washington (2-1) and Colorado (2-1).
