TWO NO-NO’S – SAME CALENDAR YEAR… According to Elias, Lincecum joins Homer Bailey, Nolan Ryan and Sandy Koufax as the only players in the Expansion Era (since 1961) to throw two no-hitters within the span of a calendar year.

ELITE COMPANY… Lincecum is now one of four pitchers all-time with multiple Cy Young Awards and multiple no-hitters, joining Roy Halladay, Randy Johnson and Sandy Koufax… Lincecum and Koufax are the only two with multiple no-hitters, multiple Cy Young Awards and multiple World Series rings.

TWICE AS FUN… Lincecum became the 32nd pitcher with multiple no-hitters and became the fourth active pitcher to achieve the feat, joining Homer Bailey, Mark Buerhle and Justin Verlander.

THREE STRAIGHT SEASONS WITH A NO-HITTER… Giants pitchers (Cain in 2012, Lincecum in 2013, Lincecum in 2014) have recorded a no-hitter in each of the last three seasons… the last time a team had a no-hitter in three-straight seasons was when Nolan Ryan of the California Angels had two in 1973 and one each in 1974 and 1975 (Elias).

DID YOU KNOW?… Yesterday was the second time that the Padres’ Chase Headley cost a Giants pitcher a perfect game as he was the only baserunner allowed by Jonathan Sanchez in his no-hitter on July 10, 2009 and then was the only runner allowed by Lincecum yesterday.

SERIES NOTES… The Giants took two of three from Cincinnati earlier this month at Great American Ball Park, winning its first series versus the Reds since August of 2010… dating back to the beginning of the 2011 season, the Reds have won seven of the last 12 meetings here at AT&T Park.

TIM LINECUM: Tossed his second career no-hitter and the 16th in franchise history, tied for the fourth-most all-time among teams…also marked the eighth no-hitter in San Francisco-era history.

  • Stands as the third no-hitter in the Majors this season (also: LAD’s Josh Beckett and Clayton Kershaw).
  • Became the 32nd pitcher with multiple no-hitters and is the first pitcher to accomplish the feat since Homer Bailey did so last season…is the fourth active pitcher with multiple no-hitters, as he joins Bailey (2), Mark Buerhle (2) and Justin Verlander (2).
  • Joins Christy Mathewson as the only pitchers to throw multiple no-hitters in a Giants uniform.
  • Is only the second pitcher to throw more than one no-hitter against the same team (also no-hit Padres on July 13, 2013 at San Diego…joined RHP Addie Joss, who threw a perfect game on Oct. 2, 1908 and another no-hitter on April 20, 1910, both against the Chicago White Sox (STATS, LLC).

TOMORROW’S STARTER… Matt Cain will make his 12th start of the season… has been hit with the injury bug this season, missing two starts (13 days) from April 24-May 10 with a cut on his right index finger and then another two starts (15 days) from May 22-June 5 with the right hamstring strain… last started on June 17 at Chicago-AL and took the loss, as he allowed eight runs (seven earned runs) in 5 .0 in- nings of work.
