Pants Up

In show of team unity, everyone on the field, including Equipment Manger Mike Murphy, wore their pants high today – Barry Zito, Hunter Pence and Brandon Belt were no longer the odd men out when it came to their Giants uniforms.

GIANT COMEBACK… The Giants rallied from a six-run deficit last night to defeat the Rockies, 8-6…it was the first time that the Giants won a game in which they trailed by six or more runs since Sept. 23, 2005, when they overcame an identical deficit (6-0) here at Coors Field and won 7-6.

Jefferson Awards

Jeremy Affeldt has been busy this week honoring Jefferson Award Winners.  On Tuesday he met with Blake Spears who was recognized for his volunteer work with the Oakland Zoo and for his commitment to animal conservation.  Blake also created SCAT TV Productions, a youth organization that provides a platform for youth to create their own media projects.  Then, before today’s game Jeremy meet with other Award Winners by the Barry Bonds Field and talked with them about working in the community.  You can learn more about the Jefferson Awards by visiting www.jeffersonawards.org.

Another game, another hero – in the 10th inning Guillermo Quiroz got the 30th hit of the game, a pinch-hit-home-run, which sent everyone home with a smile as the Giants beat LA 10-9. Quick Fact: Out of the Giants 18 victories this year, 11 have been come-from-behind wins.

A WIN FOR THE .500 MARK…With a win tonight, RHP Ryan Vogelsong will reach the .500 mark in his career win-loss column for the first time in his Major League career… Vogelsong will be making his 184th appearance and 95th start tonight.
