TODAY’S GAME… The San Francisco Giants visit the Chicago Cubs today in the second game of this four game series…RHP Carlos Villanueva (0-0, 1.35) is scheduled to face RHP Matt Cain (0-1, 8.38).

ABOUT YESTERDAY… The Giants overcame a five run deficit yesterday to win 7-6…it was the first time SF won after trailing by five-or-more runs since Sept. 7, 2008 vs. Pittsburgh at AT&T Park (trailed 5-0 in the bottom of the 4th; won 11-6), and their first such road win since Sept. 23, 2005 at Coors Field.

COMEBACK KIDS… The Giants only had two comeback wins last season where they trailed by four-or-more runs… they’ve had two such wins already this week (yesterday’s win and Tuesday’s 9-6 victory over the Rockies) (Elias).

THE ROOKIE…Yesterday IF Nick Noonan became the first Giants player to record three-or-more hits in his first ML start since Travis Ishikawa turned trick May 26, 2006 vs. Colorado (3×4, started at first)…Noonan finished yesterday 3×5…thanks to STATS, Inc.

The cold and rain didn’t bother Nick Noonan, or the rest of the Giants this afternoon. After a rocky start the Giants came back and beat the Chicago Cubs 7-6.

TONIGHT’S GAME… The San Francisco Giants visit the Los Angeles Angels Dodgers in the third and nal game of this season opening series…RHP Tim Lincecum (2012: 10-15, 5.18) is scheduled to face Dodgers’ RHP Josh Beckett (2012: 7-14, 4.65).

STARTING STRONG…RHP Matt Cain (6.0ip, 0 runs) and LHP Madison Bumgarner (8.0ip, 0 runs) have kicked o! their seasons by not allowing any runs in 6.0+ innings in each of their starts.

ANDRES TORRES… Rejoined the Giants organization, signing as a free agent, Dec. 13, 2012… Had spent 2009-2011 with the Giants.

SERGIO ROMO… Since taking over the closer’s role last season in late August, has been a perfect 10- for-10 in save opportunities.

JOAQUIN ARIAS… Made his first start of the season yesterday at first base (sixth career start at first)…went 2×4.

TRADING SHUTOUT WINS…LHP Madison Bumgarner (R) allowed just two hits over 8.0 innings to earn the victory in the Giants’ 3-0 win last night, one day a! er Clayton Kershaw shut out the Giants…according to Elias, that marked only the second time in the last 20 years that these two rivals split a pair of games on consecutive days, with each team winning via shutout…most recent was in 2000, with Darren Dreifort (LA) and Kirk Rueter (SF) starting and earning victories for their respective teams.
