TODAY’S GAME… The Giants’ six-game, seven-day road trip concludes today with the final game of this four game series against the Rockies… RHP Juan Nicasio (3-1, 5.13) will start against LHP Barry Zito (3-2, 3.40).
MUCH IMPROVED…The Giants have scored a total of 202 runs in 43 games this season for an average of 4.70 runs per game, the third-highest gure among NL teams behind Colorado (5.02) and Cincinnati (4.84)…last season the Giants averaged 4.43 runs per game.

JEAN MACHI… This is Machi’s second appearance with the Giants this season as he was recalled from April 17-May 7…is 1-0 with a 2.19 ERA (3er, 12.1ip) in 10 games this year.
REMEMBER THIS?… The last time Zito faced the Rockies here at Coors Field he tossed a four-hit shutout in SF’s 7-0 win last season on April 9…it was the fifth shutout of his career, his first on the road and his first in a Giants uniform…it also marked the first time that a Giants player tossed a shutout here at Coors Field.
GREGOR BLANCO… Has gone 11-for-28 (.393) w/runners in scoring position and is 6-for-14 with RISP and two outs… All of his hits this season have come against right-handed pitchers… is 0×10 vs. LHH… Has appeared in 34 games, making 30 starts (28 in left field and two in center field).
ANGEL PAGAN… Is batting .353 (12-for-34) with runners in scoring position…is 5-for his-last-11 w/RISP… His seven game-winning RBI are the second-most in the Majors.
SCUTARO STREAKING…IF Marco Scutaro went 2-for-4 last night to extend his season-high hitting streak to 17 games, the longest active hit streak in the bigs and now the longest hitting streak in the Majors this season…Scutaro is batting .486 (34-for-70) during the streak…his career-best hit streak is 20 games, accomplished last season.

The Giants welcomed James Hetfield, Kirk Hammett, Lars Ulrich and Robert Trujillo for Metallica Night. Hetfield and Hammett performed the national anthem, Lars Ulrich threw the first pitch and Hetfield kicked off the game by saying “Play Ball”.

first game of this three game series and the last leg of this six-game road trip that began
in San Diego…RHP Ian Kennedy (1-2, 4.70) is slated to face RHP Matt Cain (0-2, 6.59).
TV SCHEDULE CHANGE…Please note that due to Golden State Warriors basketball, tomorrow’s game between the Giants and D-backs will be broadcast on CSN Bay Area Plus…the Giants game will be joined in progress on CSN Bay Area after the Warriors post-game show.
