REMEMBER THIS?… The last time Zito faced the Rockies here at Coors Field he tossed a four-hit shutout in SF’s 7-0 win last season on April 9…it was the fifth shutout of his career, his first on the road and his first in a Giants uniform…it also marked the first time that a Giants player tossed a shutout here at Coors Field.

SCUTARO STREAKING…IF Marco Scutaro went 2-for-4 last night to extend his season-high hitting streak to 17 games, the longest active hit streak in the bigs and now the longest hitting streak in the Majors this season…Scutaro is batting .486 (34-for-70) during the streak…his career-best hit streak is 20 games, accomplished last season.

Metallica Night

The Giants welcomed James Hetfield, Kirk Hammett, Lars Ulrich and Robert Trujillo for Metallica Night.  Hetfield and Hammett performed the national anthem, Lars Ulrich threw the first pitch and Hetfield kicked off the game by saying “Play Ball”.

MATT CAIN… Last started Tuesday night against the D-backs at AT&T Park and received a no decision in the Giants’ 6-4 loss in 11.0 innings…tossed 6.0 innings, allowing four runs (three earned) on five hits…allowed two runs in the 1st and then two in the 3rd on Paul Goldschmidt’s two-run HR.

Headin’ Home

It was a long and cold road trip, but the Giants are headed home for a 6 game homestand.  Starting tomorrow the Padres will be in town, and then the Diamondbacks will be in San Francisco for 3 games starting Monday.

Another Cold One
