PENCE, POSEY IN THE CLUTCH… OF Hunter Pence (.360) and C Buster Posey (.338) own the third and fourth highest batting average in the NL, respectively, with runners in scoring position…Pence’s .360 average is the highest by a Giants player in a single season since Barry Bonds in 2006 (.423) (min. 100 PA).

GIANTS-PIRATES OR GIANTS-CARDINALS… The Giants will play either the Pirates or Cardinals in the one-game wild-card round on Wednesday (site still TBD), with these last four games deciding home field advantage… SF trails the Pirates by 1.0 game for first wild-card position… however, the Pirates hold the tie-breaker for home field advantage should both teams end in a tie…Pittsburgh is just 1.5 games behind St. Louis for the NL Central crown and the Giants hold the tiebreaker for home-field advantage over St. Louis should both teams end in a tie.

HOME COOKING… The Giants have won 10 of their last 12 home contests and have been one of the best teams at home beginning July 30, going 14-5 (.737)…only the Cardinals (.759, 22-7) and Padres (.750, 21-7) have been better at home since that date among NL teams.
