TONIGHT’S PITCHING MATCHUP… RHP Matt Cain (1-4, 3.84), who will be seeking his first win since May 15, is coming off a 6-2 loss to the Nationals last Wednesday after allowing four runs in 5.0 innings…dating back to last season, Cain has gone winless in his last eight road starts, despite a 2.89 ERA in this span…LHP John Danks (5-5, 4.17) has won each of his last two starts, allowing a total of three runs in 14.1ip…he’s fashioned a 1.53 ” gure (5er, 29.1ip) in his last four starts.

TODAY’S TRANSACTIONS… RHP Santiago Casilla has returned from his rehab assignment and has been reinstated from the 15-day disabled list…Casilla made two rehab starts with Class A Advanced San Jose and pitched 3.0-scoreless innings with three strikeouts…he missed the Giants’ last 24 games with a strained right hamstring.

IN THE TRAINERS ROOM… C Buster Posey has missed the last two games because of nerve irritation in his lower back, which he hurt on an awkward swing on Sunday…RHP Matt Cain and RHP Santiago Casilla (both injured last night with strained right hamstrings) will undergo MRIs today to determine the severity of their injuries.

TODAY’S ROSTER MOVE… Prior to today’s game the Giants have placed RHP Santiago Casilla (right hamstring strain) on the 15-day disabled list and have recalled RHP George Kontos (#70) from triple-A.

ON DECK… Following today’s game, the Giants return home for a six-game homestand against the Twins (this weekend) and Cubs (Monday-Wednesday)…the Giants are 5-4 all-time against Minnesota, going 3-3 at AT&T Park…it will be the  rst time the Giants-Twins will have met since 2011.

TONIGHT’S PITCHING MATCHUP… Will be a rematch of the April 22 contest here at Coors, where LHP Madison Bumgarner (5-3, 3.25) matched up with LHP Franklin Morales (3-3, 5.40)…Bumgarner suffered the defeat in that game despite going the distance in SF’s 2-1 loss…he became the second pitcher in Coors Field history to throw a complete game, allow two runs or fewer and su! er the loss, joining Jason Jennings in 2006…Morales meanwhile earned the win, logging 7.0 innings while allowing just a solo homer to OF Hunter Pence.

CLUTCH HITTING WITH TWO OUTS… 13 of SF’s last 24 RBI have come two outs and they continue to lead the Majors in this category, driving in 86 runs with two outs.

GIANTS BEGIN THREE-GAME TRIP IN DENVER… The Giants begin a brief three-game road trip tonight in Denver against the Rockies…the Giants, who are tied with the Dodgers for the second-best road record this season at 14-9 (.609), will face a Rockies team that has the second- best home record in the Majors at 15-6 (.714)…the Giants have lost nine of their last 13 here at Coors Field the last two seasons, including two of three last month.
