JUSTIN CHRISTIAN… Was batting .343 (104-for-303) with 7 HRs and 35 RBI in 72 games for the Grizzlies… Was leading the PCL with 91 hits and was pacing Grizzlies with 29 multi-hit games prior to 1st call-up.

GIANTS ON REHAB ASSIGNMENTS…RHP Shane Loux (re-occuring neck strain) began a rehab assignment with triple-A Fresno on Tuesday night and tossed 1.0-scoreless inning of relief in 1 outing.

GIANTS ON REHAB ASSIGNMENTS… RHP Guillermo Mota (serving suspension) also started a rehab assignment Tuesday with rookie level Arizona…he’s allowed 7 runs on 8 hits in just 2.2 innings in 2 games.

TONIGHT’S GAME…The San Francisco Giants visit the St. Louis Cardinals in the 1st game of this 4-game series…Giants’ right-hander Matt Cain (10-4, 2.82) will face Cardinals’ right-hander Jake Westbrook (10-8, 3.79).

SWEEP OF THE ROCKIES…Tim Lincecum and the Giants’ 3-game sweep of the Rockies yesterday was just the 4th time that they’ve swept Colorado in Denver in a series of 3-or-more games… SF outscored their NL West rival by a 35-13 margin and out-hit them 45-27 this past weekend…it marked the Giants’ 1st sweep of an opponent on the road this season.

HUNTER PENCE… Went 2-for-5 with 2 2Bs and 3 RBI yesterday at COL…it was the 4th time during Pence’s career that he had an RBI in 3 different plate appearances in one game…did it for the Astros in 6/20/2007, June 3, 2009 and April 12, 2011 (Elias).

SINCE THE BREAK…C Buster Posey has driven in 26 runs since the All-Star break, which is the most in the Majors…he’s driven in 8 runs in his last 4 games…Posey’s hit safely in each of his last 9 games, batting .444 (16-for-46) with 3 HRs and 9 RBI.

SHANE LOUX… Has allowed 11 runs (10er) in 18.2ip (4.82 ERA) in his 13 games this season… Was reinstated from the 15-day DL on Thursday… missed 27 games with a neck strain.

COULD BE A FIRST…Melky Cabrera currently leads the NL in hits and runs scored…no Giants player in franchise history has ever led the NL in both of those categories (Elias).

JEREMY AFFELDT… Since the All-Star break, opponents are hitting just .136 (6-for-44) off him… Left-handed batters are just 8-for-their-last-53 (.151) off Affeldt.
