TIM LINECUM: Tossed his second career no-hitter and the 16th in franchise history, tied for the fourth-most all-time among teams…also marked the eighth no-hitter in San Francisco-era history.

  • Stands as the third no-hitter in the Majors this season (also: LAD’s Josh Beckett and Clayton Kershaw).
  • Became the 32nd pitcher with multiple no-hitters and is the first pitcher to accomplish the feat since Homer Bailey did so last season…is the fourth active pitcher with multiple no-hitters, as he joins Bailey (2), Mark Buerhle (2) and Justin Verlander (2).
  • Joins Christy Mathewson as the only pitchers to throw multiple no-hitters in a Giants uniform.
  • Is only the second pitcher to throw more than one no-hitter against the same team (also no-hit Padres on July 13, 2013 at San Diego…joined RHP Addie Joss, who threw a perfect game on Oct. 2, 1908 and another no-hitter on April 20, 1910, both against the Chicago White Sox (STATS, LLC).

Tony Gwynn Tribute

In honor of the passing of Tony Gwynn, the Giants presented Padres Manager Bud Black with a base from his last major league game, played October 7, 2001 at AT&T Park.  The teams observed a moment of silence before tonight’s game in honor of the great baseball player.

TONIGHT’S PITCHING MATCHUP… Tonight’s matchup of Tim Lincecum-Homer Bailey is the first meeting of two starters facing each other after throwing a no-hitter the prior season since July 13, 2013 when Jered Weaver (no-hitter on May 2, 2012) faced Felix Hernandez (perfect game on Aug. 15, 2012) in Seattle…the last time it happened for two starters pitching for a National League team was May 27, 1997, when Al Leiter faced Hideo Nomo in Los Angeles (courtesy of STATS, LLC).
