RARE FEAT… According to Elias, yesterday marked just the just the third time since the team moved to SF that the Giants have won a game when hitting a game-tying homer in the 9th and a game- winner in the 10th . . .Jim Ray Hart and Willie McCovey did it at Candlestick Park against New York-NL on Sept . 17, 1966 . . .Mike Aldrete and Candy Maldonado also accomplished the feat at Atlanta on July 1, 1986 .

10 GAME HOMESTAND CONTINUES… San Francisco’s 10-game homestand continues tonight with the start of a three-game set against the St. Louis Cardinals… the Giants are 1-6 (1-2 vs. SD and 0-4 vs. CIN) so far on this homestand and have dropped 12 of their last 14 home contests… the Cardinals continue their 10-game road trip, having posted a 3-4 record so far (2-1 at COL and 1-3 at LAD)… SF currently leads the season series against St. Louis 3-1.

SELLOUT STREAKING… The Giants have sold out their last 291 regular season home games, which extends the longest consecutive regular season home sellout streak in the National League…SF’s streak is currently the longest active one in the Majors.

TODAY’S PITCHING MATCHUP… RHP Tim Lincecum (6-5, 4.42) is making his first start since throwing his second career no-hitter against the Padres last Wednesday… Lincecum is 5-1 with a 2.89 ERA (15er, 46.2ip) in seven career starts against the Cardinals, but has not faced them since June 1, 2011… LHP Marco Gonzales (0-0, 9.00) will be making his second career start tonight… made his Major League debut last Wednesday at Colorado and allowed five runs on seven hits in 5.0 innings.

FOLLOWING THE NO-NO… In the start following his no-hitter last season, Tim Lincecum surrendered a career-high eight earned runs in just 3.2 innings of work vs. Cincinnati.

TOUGH DRAW… Tonight St. Louis will face Tim Lincecum, who threw a no-hitter in his last start, after facing two other pitchers who threw no-nos this season on Thursday (Josh Beckett) and Sunday (Clayton Kershaw)…the last time a team faced three different starting pitchers in a five-game span who had previously pitched a no-hitter in that season was in 1960, the Pirates faced Don Cardwell, Lew Burdette and Warren Spahn from Sept. 22-25, 1960 (STATS, LLC).

TWO NO-NO’S – SAME CALENDAR YEAR… According to Elias, Lincecum joins Homer Bailey, Nolan Ryan and Sandy Koufax as the only players in the Expansion Era (since 1961) to throw two no-hitters within the span of a calendar year.

ELITE COMPANY… Lincecum is now one of four pitchers all-time with multiple Cy Young Awards and multiple no-hitters, joining Roy Halladay, Randy Johnson and Sandy Koufax… Lincecum and Koufax are the only two with multiple no-hitters, multiple Cy Young Awards and multiple World Series rings.

TWICE AS FUN… Lincecum became the 32nd pitcher with multiple no-hitters and became the fourth active pitcher to achieve the feat, joining Homer Bailey, Mark Buerhle and Justin Verlander.

THREE STRAIGHT SEASONS WITH A NO-HITTER… Giants pitchers (Cain in 2012, Lincecum in 2013, Lincecum in 2014) have recorded a no-hitter in each of the last three seasons… the last time a team had a no-hitter in three-straight seasons was when Nolan Ryan of the California Angels had two in 1973 and one each in 1974 and 1975 (Elias).

DID YOU KNOW?… Yesterday was the second time that the Padres’ Chase Headley cost a Giants pitcher a perfect game as he was the only baserunner allowed by Jonathan Sanchez in his no-hitter on July 10, 2009 and then was the only runner allowed by Lincecum yesterday.
